Aaron M. Mendez, age 29, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. Beloved son of Mona (Agustin) Garcia and Jorge Vega Mendez. Big brother to Jorge “Tony” Mendez, Marco Mendez, Adriana Garcia, and Marisa Garcia. Loving fiancé of Sirena Ramirez. Fur dad to Wadsworth. Grandson of Jorge and Yolanda Mendez. Great-grandson of Juan and Carmen Rivera. Loving nephew of Mickey (Amanda) Rivera, Alex Mendez, Efrain Mendez, Jimi Neumann, Jeff Neumann, Judi Lock and loving cousin of April Neumann, and many other extended family members. Best friend of Brandon Mihal and Jake Wing.

Visitation Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Private funeral service on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens South – Worth, IL.  Aaron was a heavy technician mechanic for IUOE Local 150. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
