Agnes A. McCormack, nee Madvar, age 88, of South Holland, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 12, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Edward McCormack. Loving mother of Judy (Peter) Panozzo and John (Renee) McCormack. Cherished grandmother of Celine, Teagan, Reece, Brenna and Brianna. Preceded in death by her siblings Emil Madvar, Louis Madvar and Catherine Madvar. Agnes will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Agnes worked at Chicago Title and Trust for many years as an Escrow Officer and upon retiring became involved in many community and religious organizations. She was a member of The Blue Army and of Friendly Neighbors. She attended and participated in the Town Hall and A.A.R.P. Meetings. For 30 years she volunteered at Ingalls Hospital, delivering flowers, working in the triage emergency room and surgical areas, as well as knitting bonnets and blankets for the newborn babies. She also was an active volunteer at Hospice; working in the office and visiting patients at home. She made an uncountable number of rosaries that were sent out to all parts of the world for Medical Mission, and was involved with Holy Ghost Church in South Holland and a member of the Guild, taking care of the flowers, working in the bake sales, helping with funerals, acting as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, or filling in wherever else the need arose. When she wasn’t working with all the other groups, she worked as an usher at a number of theaters downtown and at Governors State University where she met many of today’s most popular performers.
Things she liked to do were playing bingo and slots with friends and family (where she was incredibly lucky), going to the beach, traveling, baking (the best apple strudel ever), spending time with her grand kids, and going to the movies. She will be dearly missed for all that she did and all that she was.
