Al L. Bridegroom, age 70, late of Schererville, formerly of St. John, IN & Calumet City, IL. Passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 with his loving family around him. Beloved husband of 44 years of Carol J. Bridegroom, nee LaFave. Devoted father of Daniel (Maria) Bridegroom, Jeffery (Karen) Bridegroom, Toni (Joe) Milas, and John (Sheila) Kjellman. Proud grandfather of ten; Great-grandfather of five. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Orville and Nelda Bridegroom, one brother, and eleven sisters. Al also loved his faithful companion, his dog Dora. Visitation Friday, November 8, 2013 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN 46311. Entombment Chapel Lawn Cemetery - Schererville, IN. Mr. Bridegroom was the founder of Calumet Pallet in Hammond, IN, and many other business ventures, along with numerous invention patents. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Hospice of the Calumet Area appreciated.
