Aloysius H. “Al” “Cy” Ruiz, age 87, of Dyer, IN formerly of Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 12, 2026. Beloved husband of 58 years to Donna Ruiz, nee Schneider. Devoted father of Thomas (Amy) Ruiz and Susan Ruiz. Proud grandfather of Katie (Andres), Alez Ruiz, and RW Eakin: great-grandfather of Lila, Elliot, Oliver Eakin and Luna, Greyson, and Asher Andres. Dear brother of Caroline (late Sam) Henry, Pacita (late Lee) Willems, and Joyce (late Richerd) Pompa. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Seso and Margaret Pasqua Ruiz. Al adored his wife, loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed. He loved his birth state of Montana, fishing, and his pride and joy, his garden. And was a proud United States Navy Veteran.

Memorial visitation Wednesday, August 18, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home James E. Janusz Director, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN. Memorial Mass Thursday, August 19, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. directly at St. Joseph Catholic Church 440 Joliet St. Dyer, IN, with Rev. Leo Gajardo officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, appreciated.
