Albert J. Gouwens, age 71, of Elmhurst, IL passed away Friday, August 29, 2014. Beloved husband of Jean Gouwens, nee Doornbos. Devoted father of Dirk (Sarah), Michael (Jessica), Marie (fiancé Emmanuel Gilmore), and Nicholas (Angela). Proud grandfather of Kylie. Mentor and father figure to Robert Novak (Denise). Dear brother of James (Phyllis), Robert (Judy), Dan (Shirlee), Dale (Christine), Jean (Mark) Poppen, and Kelvin (Cathy). Kind and generous uncle of many nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Tys and Jeanetta Gouwens. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014, from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the First Reformed Church (15924 South Park Ave. South Holland, IL).
