Alfred D. Recker, age 89, of Munster, IN, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021.  Beloved husband of the late Dina Recker, nee DeHorn and the late Jean Huizenga Recker, nee Westrate.  Loving father of Steven (Janet) Recker, Patricia (Kevin) Hermann, Dianne (Tom) Schoon, and Dirk (Jane) Recker and step-father of the late Robert (Joy) Huizenga, Janet (John) Sutorius, late Beverly Jones, Ellen (Lou) Caposey, Jill Dekker, and David Huizenga.  Cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, and 21 step-great grandchildren.  Dear Brother of  the late Harold (late Ruth) Recker, late Betty (late John) Schaap, Catherine (late William) Meuzelaar, late Vern Recker, Donald (Darlys) Recker, and the late Gwendolyn Recker.  Kind uncle of  many nieces and nephews.  Fred was a member of Lake Hills Baptist Church in Schererville, IN.  He was an electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #134 of Chicago for 69 years.  Fred served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran.

A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt .30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Donald Recker and Rev. Phil Humber. The service will be live streamed from our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SmitsFH .  Private interment at Skyline Memorial Park – Monee, IL.  Memorial contributions may be given to Lake Hills Baptist Church, 9209 W. 85 ^th Ave., Schererville, IN 46375.
