Andrew De Boer, age 86, of South Holland, IL passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014. Beloved husband of Alice, nee Zylstra. Loving father of Arthur(Karla), Andrew M.(Celeste), Michael(Peggy), Pattie De Boer, Karen (Rudy) Beezhold, Kathy(Dean) Natelborg, George (Beth), Scott (Patty) De Boer, and Lisa (Paul) Schulz. Proud grandfather of 27; great-grandfather of 25. Dear brother of Edward (late Ann), Elmer (Tini) De Boer, Jackie (Don) Dykstra, Tena (Dick) Poortinga, and Betty (late Marvin) Dykstra. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Judy his caregiver. Visitation Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane(Rt.30&Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN. Memorial service Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Glen United Reformed Church, 2244 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL, with services conducted by Rev. John Vermeer. Interment prior to the memorial service at Chapel Hill Gardens South - Worth, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Elim Christian Services. Mr. De Boer was a mechanical engineer for 44 years at Verson All Steel Press Co. in Chicago, IL. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of Oak Glen United Reformed Church and was a member of the former Bethany Christian Reformed Church.
