Andrew Deboer

Andrew DeBoer, age 89, of South Holland, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 6, 2014. Beloved husband of Alice, nee Zylstra. Devoted father of Arthur (Karla), Andrew M. (Celeste), Michael (Peggy), Pattie DeBoer, Karen (Rudy) Beezhold, Kathy (Dean) Natelborg, George (Beth), Scott (Patty) DeBoer, and Lisa (Paul) Schultz. Proud grandfather of 27; Great-grandfather of 25. Dear brother of Edward (late Ann), Elmer (Tini) DeBoer, Jackie (Don) Dykstra, Tena (Dick) Poortinga, and Betty (late Marvin) Dykstra. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his caregiver Judy. Mr. DeBoer was mechanical engineer for 44 years at Verson All Steel Press Co. in Chicago. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of Oak Glen United Reformed Church and a member of the former Bethany Christian Reformed Church. Visitation Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home (2121 Pleasant Springs Lane Dyer, IN 46311.) Memorial service Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Glen United Reformed Church (2244 Indiana Ave. Lansing, IL 60438) with Rev. John Vermeer officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery - Worth, Il prior to Andrew's memorial service. Memorial contributions may be given to Elim Christian Services.
