Listen to Obituary

Ann Dobias, nee Petrusek, age 98, of Dyer, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Dobias. Loving mother of Richard (Jill) and Donna (Robert) Adams. Proud grandmother “Mena” of Lisa (Eric) Krueger, Ryan Adams, Daniel (Stephanie) Adams, Leanne Dobias, Casey Dobias, and Eric Dobias, and Great-grandmother of Gavin and Mia Krueger, and Ella and Annabelle Adams. Dear sister of Emily Vallese. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Petrusek, as well as her siblings, Joseph, Anthony, Agnes Ejchorszt, Robert, Marian Cioe, and Edward.

Ann was born on October 12, 1927, in the Chicago neighborhood of Roseland, to Mary and Joseph Petrusek. She attended Holy Rosary Slovak grade school and Saint Willibrord High School.

Ann married Joseph Dobias in February 1949 and raised two children.

Ann worked as a secretary and office manager for Acco International in Chicago, and retired after 35 years of service.

Throughout Ann’s life she was active in the Catholic church, as an Auxiliary Minister of Communion, at Saint Mary of the Assumption parish in Chicago and in the parish’s food pantry program.

Ann was an active member and trustee of The Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union for more than 50 years.

Ann enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending school and sporting events. In addition, she enjoyed playing rummy, pinochle, Yahtzee, and traveling with family and friends. She also enjoyed listening to music, watching game shows and baseball games and other sporting events on television. She was a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan. However, in her later years, followed and watched both the White Sox and Cubs on television.

Ann was “famous”, at least in our family, for her homemade potato salad, meatballs, baked apple slices and kolach, which will all be missed.

Ann’s Faith, Family and Friends were the most important parts of her life, and gave it purpose and meaning. She was loved by many and will be missed by all whom she touched and shared her long and happy life with.

We are thankful for everything she did for us. The LOVE she gave us and the GUIDANCE she showed us.

May you rest in eternal peace and happiness and may God bless you and keep you always.

With LOVE,

Your Family.
