Ann Mallers (McNown), age 92, formally from Bass Lake (Knox), Indiana passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 8, 2020 with family by her side.  Beloved wife of the late William C. Mallers.   Ann is survived by her 5 children and 11 grandchildren: Becky (late Jack) Black of Schererville, IN and children Carrie (Josh) Shank and R.P. (Claudia), Phil (Sue) Mallers of Crown Point, IN and children Chris (Julie), Todd, and Brad (Lauren) Chuck Mallers of Greenfield, IN and children Justin, Paul (Jen), and Scott, Kathy (Paul) Kachanoski of Columbus, IN and son Joel (Kayse) Drennan, Julie (Bob) Boczek of Glenview, IL and children Mallery and Brant, and 10 great grandchildren.  Her sister Marcia Cook of Findlay, OH and sister-in-law Jane Pautsch of Tallahassee, FL.  Aunt of several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Grace McNown and one granddaughter Kimberly Mallers.

Ann was born in Wabash, Indiana on January 2, 1928 and grew up in Bluffton, IN.  She was a graduate of Bluffton High School and attended Manchester College.  Married William C. Mallers on December 13, 1947, raised their children in Park Forest, IL, moved to Springfield, IL in 1978 and retired at Bass Lake, Knox, Indiana.

She loved music, dancing, playing cards, bowling and was actively involved with her children’s school activities.  She loved entertaining and was a gracious hostess.  She was a proud member of the Infant Welfare, PTA, St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Park Forest, IL.  During her time in Springfield she was a doctor’s receptionist for twenty years and a member of The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.

Private Interment Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL.  A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, September 26 , 2020 from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimers Association and National Multiple Sclerosis Society .  Arrangements entrusted to Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN.  For further information, please contact 219-322-7300 or visit our online guestbook and obituary at www.SMITSFH.com
