Arturo P. Salgado

Arturo P. Salgado, age 91, of Calumet City, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020.  Loving husband of the late Sofia Salgado.  Devoted father of Claudio, Bonifacio (Cristina), Agustin (Josefina), Julia, Tina, Justin, Juan (Lorna), Rob, Guillermina, and Arturo Jr. (Theresa).  Proud grandfather of 21; great-grandfather of 12.  Preceded in death by his parents Hilario and Carmen Salgado.

Visitation Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Prayer service Friday, October 9, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. from Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN, to St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 768 Lincoln Ave. Calumet City, IL, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, with Rev. Luis Valerio officiating.  Interment Holy Cross – Calumet City, IL.

Arturo was the patriarch of the family.  He loved his family, education and food.  He adored traveling to his home country Mexico.  He was passionate about his faith and loved tradition.  He loved caring for his beloved Virgin of Guadalupe back in Mexico.  Family was his priority and he demonstrated it in distinct ways.  He was an initiator, a risk taker, but overall a pioneer for the family.  He was a self-sacrificing father.  He was loved and appreciated by all around him and he will be missed but never forgotten.  For further information, please call 219-322-7300 or visit our online obituary and guestbook at www.SMITSFH.com
