Bertell R. Vanderzee, age 83, of Schererville, IN, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016. Beloved husband of Frances Vanderzee, nee Osinski. Loving father of the late Lynn Marie Skrbina, Richard Vanderzee, and Tami (Gary) Miedema. Proud grandfather of eight; great grandfather of three. Cherished brother of Donald (Joyce) Vanderzee. Preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Margaret Vanderzee. Visitation Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Friday, March 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30&Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN with Rev. Andy Nearpass officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery - Calumet City, IL. Bert was the owner of Wentworth Tire with various locations in the Chicago area .
