Betty Kubancek

Betty Kubancek, lifetime resident of Steger, Illinois. December 9, 1924-August 25, 2022. Betty was the 4th child of Adalgisa and Nazzareno Melchiore of 23rd Street on The Hill in Chicago Heights. Beloved wife of the late Charles S. Kubancek for 45 years. Loving mother of Jill Lynn of Chicago. Dear sister of Lydia Panagiotis of Chandler, Arizona,  the late Dominic Melchiore, late Elda (late Joseph) Natale, late Lena (late Anthony) DalSanto, and the late Frank (late Mary Ann) Melchiore. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear caregiver and friend, Brian.

Betty spent the majority of her working years in the food/restaurant industry. She met her husband Charlie at the D’Amico Pasta Factory as a teenager. In her adult years, she worked at the Marvell Bakery as well as waitressed at Mr. Ed’s, Masetti’s, and Scrementi’s. She also had a passion for cooking traditional Italian dishes and desserts that her family would travel from all over the country to enjoy for the holidays.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2022 directly at St. Liborius Church (71 W 35th St, Steger, IL 60475) from 10:00-11:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. Burial to be private at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family or Catholic Charities appreciated.
