Betty W. Schaap, nee Recker, age 88, of Lansing, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Beloved wife of John Schaap. Loving mother of Wayne (Laurel) Schaap, Janice (Fred) Hoekstra, Pamela (Lewis) Haan, and Brian Schaap. Devoted grandmother of Aron (Sarah) Hoekstra, Ryan (Karen) Hoekstra, Michelle (Titus Presler) Schaap, Kara (Brandon) Taylor, Timothy (Katherine) Schaap, Brandon (Sarah) Haan, Shannon Haan and Morgan Schaap; great-grandmother of eight. Dear sister of Fred (late Dina, late Jean) Recker, Catherine (late Martin, late William) Meuzelaar, Rev. Donald (Darlys) Recker, late Harold (Ruth) Recker, The late Vernon Recker and late Gwendolyn Recker. She was also preceded in death by her parents Dick and Nellie Recker. Visitation Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Ln., Dyer, IN. Funeral service Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Cottage Grove Christian Reformed Church (16556 S. Cottage Grove Ave. South Holland, IL) with Rev. Donald Recker and Rev.
