Bill "Bigfoot" Hellmer, age 71, of DeMotte, IN, formerly South Chicago Heights, IL, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016. Loving husband of Charlotte H. Hellmer, nee Katauskas. Devoted father of Gerritt (Amy Stout) Hellmer, Jeff (Deana) Skimel, Deborah (Andrew) Robustelli, and Patricia (Eric) McMahon. Proud Pops of Andrew Jr., Claudia, and Adeline. Visitation from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 with a Celebration of Life service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home - Dyer, IN. Bill was a avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, and was a dedicated and proud volunteer fireman in South Chicago Heights for many years.
