Billy F. James, age 77, of Crete, IL, passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Betty S. James, nee Gibson. Devoted father of Billy R. (Kimberly) James and Bobbie James; Step-father of Ava Tucker and Kathy Ruby. Proud grandpa of Danny, Michael, Louis, Nicole, Stephanie, Joseph, and Cody; Great-grandpa of Nolan. Dearest brother of Thomas "Bob" (Sue), Will (Martha), Jerry (Janie) James, June (Denis) Duello, Joyce (Ron) Williams, Glenda (Mike) Elvert; Dear half-brother of the late Marie (Robert) Mitchell. Preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Lennie James. Visitation Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN 46311. Visitation also Friday, August 1, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Barnett - Strother Funeral Home 2285 N. Main St. Madisonville, KY 42431.
