Burton John Gardiner
December 20, 1932 – December 19, 2025
Burton passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, just one day shy of his 93rd birthday.
Burton was the beloved husband of Dorothy Gardiner and a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Loving husband of Dorothy; dear father of Patricia (Mark) Cherney, late Robert (Leslie), Charles (Colleen), and Timothy (Tina). Burton was a proud grandfather to Steven, Aaron, David, Andrew, Kate, Nicole, Elizabeth, Blake, Brooke, Sarah, Anna, Emily, and Brynn, and a cherished great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren.

Burton was a dedicated businessman and community leader. He owned and operated Gardiner’s Ace Hardware in Lansing for 35 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and friendly presence behind the counter. His commitment to service extended far beyond his business. Burton was a proud charter member of the Rotary Club of Lansing for 50 years, achieving perfect attendance throughout that time and serving as Past President—an accomplishment that reflected his deep dedication to the community he loved.
Burton was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansing, where his faith and service were an important part of his life.
In his younger years, Burton honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Above all else, Burton will be remembered as a family man who valued hard work, service, and loyalty. His steady guidance, kindness, and devotion to those around him leave a lasting legacy that will be carried on by the many lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
