Calvin Stewart Yoder

Calvin Stewart Yoder, age 95, of Crete, Illinois, formerly of Steger, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Beloved husband of Theresa "'Terri" Yoder nee Gilbert. Loving father of Cynthia (Danny) Hunley, Carrie Carcelli, Kelly Yoder, Joseph Yoder, and Jennifer (Frank) Becvar. Cherished grandfather of Holly (Bill Mueller) Hunley, Jason (Jackie) Hunley, Catherine Pietrzak (Shemek), Michael DeFrancesco (Megan), Matthew DeFrancesco and Henry Becvar. Great grandfather of Brett Michael Pietrzak, Gracie Mae & Scarlett Rae DeFrancesco, Maggie, Charlotte, Carter, and Jack. Preceded in death by parents; Joseph and Sophie Yoder, and siblings; George, Viola, Art, Betty and Donna.

Calvin Yoder, SMSgt, devoted 38 proud years of service to the United States Air Force. He continued his commitment to others through 23 years of service as a Will County deputy sheriff, as a post commander of Steger VFW Post 8283, and as a valued member of the Crete F Men. Calvin’s life of service and dedication will be remembered with deep respect, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation to be held Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd. Steger, Illinois, 60475. Interment to follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Crete, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials to the American Parkinson Disease Association appreciated.
