Carl E. Brown Sr., age 80, of Thornton, IL, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Lynette Brown, nee Zander. Loving father of Melinda G. Kluge, Pamela J. (Jeff) Hemp, Carl E. (Linda) Brown Jr. and the late Jeffrey A. Brown. Devoted grandfather of ten grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. Dear brother of Fred (Delores) Brown. Cherished buddy of his faithful dog Buster, friend to the end Jack Ritsema and his many loving in-laws and out-laws. Preceded in death by his parents: Eugene and Aline Brown and brother: Donald Brown. Carl loved to be hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt. 6 / 159th St.) So. Holland, IL. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (508 Chicago Rd, Thornton, IL.) with Rev. Harold Wahl officiating. Interment will be held at Homewood Memorial Gardens - Homewood, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
