Catherine Walter, nee Newald, age 107, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 18, 2018. Beloved wife of the late William. Loving mother of William (Shirley) Walter, Judith (Bill) Preuss, Susan (Jim) Kreger, and Phillip (Joan) Walter. Proud grandmother of 9; great-grandmother of 17; great-great-grandmother of 6. Dear sister of Betty (late Art) Herpolsheimer. Preceded in death by her parents Martin and Emma Newald, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  Visitation Monday, January 22, 2018 from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL 60473.
