Celeste A. Deboer

Celeste A. DeBoer, nee Ebbens age 66, of Crete, IL, formerly of South Holland, IL, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 3, 2022.  Beloved wife of Andrew DeBoer.  Loving mother of Kara (Michael) VanderVliet, Krista (Justin) Roark, and Kendra (Mark) Wright.  Proud grandmother of Hannah, Collin, Micah, Elliot, Naomi, and Bennett. Dear sister of Gary (Sue) Ebbens and Scott (Denise) Ebbens.  Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents Robert and Anna Mae Ebbens.

Celeste was well loved and known by her community for so much over the years: playing organ and piano for dozens of congregations, weddings, and events, being a dear friend to colleagues and a campus “mom” to students at Trinity Christian College, sharing the love of music with not only her daughters but so many others through piano lessons, kindermusic, and worship ministries.  We will miss her laughter, her garden, her affection for her grandkids, and so much more.  We are blessed to know she is at peace and no longer in pain.

Visitation Monday, November 7, 2022 from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN.  Funeral service Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at First Reformed Church, 15924 South Park Ave., South Holland, IL.  A burial service will be held prior at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.
