Charles “Chuck” L. Schepel, age 78, of Schererville, IN, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Beloved husband of Judith Schepel, nee Bultema. Loving father of Chad (Alison) Schepel, Jeffrey (Jamie) Schepel and Valerie (Ken) Wallace. Proud grandfather of Caden Schepel, Holden Schepel, Luke Schepel, Levi Schepel, Sami Kikkert, Paige Harrison, Piper Harrison, Faith Harrison, and Cooper Wallace. Dear brother of Mary Lou (Joe) Massay and the late Herb (Kathleen Deane) Schepel. Brother-in-law of Tim (Laurel) Bultema, Barb (Jim) Burke, Larry (Laurene) Bultema, and the late Susan (Duane) Bosman. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Gladys Schepel.
Judy was blessed to be married to Chuck for 56 years. Chuck attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts for three years. He served in the Gary Army Reserves as a parachute rigger. His art background led him to start Schepel Signs which he loved to do for 47 years. He built rental buildings, designed and built two homes, sang with Men of A-Chord and served on church and school boards. Chuck gave up bowling so he and Judy could enjoy ballroom dancing (His idea!) Chuck had a special wit and infectious laugh. He will be dearly missed.
