Charles G. Detmar, age 88, of South Holland, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.  Beloved husband of Janet Detmar, nee Wagner.  Loving father of Dave (Carol) Detmar, Jim (Kim) Detmar, John (Jill) Detmar, Chuck (Susan) Detmar, Mary (Mike) Howes, and Ron (Nancy) Detmar.  Proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by his parents Louis and Alice Detmar.  Chuck was a Korean War Army Veteran.  He was a member of the First Reformed Church in South Holland where he served as a Trustee for 25 years.  He enjoyed travelling, but his favorite place was his cottage in Michigan, enjoying lake time with his family.  Chuck unselfishly and lovingly took care of his wife over these last few years.  He was loved by his family and will be missed.

A private family gathering will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.)
