Coretta G. Pekny, nee Siemsen, age 97, of Riverdale, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Frank Pekny. Loving mother of Gerald (Hope) Pekny, Joyce (Stephen) Forbes, and Brian (Jackie) Pekny. Proud grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of 17. Dear sister of the late Harold (Late Hazel) Siemsen and the late Earl (Late Helen) Siemsen. Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, August 29, 2014 from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home (649 E. 162nd St. South Holland, IL). Prayer service Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Queen of Apostles Church Riverdale, IL with services conducted by Rev. John Harvey. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery - Calumet City, IL. Mrs. Pekny was a charter member at Queen of Apostles Church and a volunteer with many organizations in and around the Riverdale area. Memorial contributions may be given to charity of choice.
