Dale Arthur Bovenkerk

Dale Arthur Bovenkerk, age 72, of South Holland, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2017. Beloved husband of LaVonne “Bonnie” Bovenkerk (nee Van Beek). Loving father of Michelle Renee Bovenkerk, Stephen Dale (Ann) Bovenkerk and Jennifer Susan Bovenkerk. Proud grandfather of Matthew John and Emily Johanna Bovenkerk. Dearest brother of Paul (Sharon) Bovenkerk, Betty (Ron) Lintner, Calvin (Nancy) Bovenkerk, and the late Donna (late Don) Walstra. Dear sibling-in-law, cousin, and uncle to many. Preceded in death by his parents Casper and Maggie Bovenkerk. Dale was loved and beloved by his family and many friends. He was always eager to talk with and joke with anyone he encountered. Dale had an eager servitude in many volunteer activities within his church and community, including the Samaritan’s Purse mission trips and Faith Church’s men’s bible study. He was always a wonderful example of Christian faith and service to his family and friends. Dale also enjoyed walks with his wife, spending time with his family and his dog Peaches, and watching sports, especially the Chicago Bears and Cubs. Dale will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL 60473. A celebration of Dale’s life will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Church, 100 W. 81st Ave. Dyer, IN. 46311. Interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.
