Daniel Alan Builta, age 43, of Rensselaer, IN, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Beloved husband of Cheryl Builta, nee Scheeringa. Loving brother of Jenny (Jim) Layne, Robert (Caitlyn) Builta, and Alexis Builta.  Devoted son of Janet (Jim) Merchant and the late Alan Builta. Dear son-in-law of Ralph (Jean) Scheeringa.  Brother-in-law  of Valerie (Joel) Breuker, and Steve (Wendy) Scheeringa.  Uncle of Amy Prater, late Christopher Prater, Emilia Layne, Jason Layne, Hailey Builta, Harper Builta, Jack Builta, Casen Hudiczius, Allie Breuker, Henry Scheeringa, Landon Scheeringa, and Emma Scheeringa. Great-uncle of Jonah Hart. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. Preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Helen Marie Skaggs, and Fred and Bertha Builta.

Memorial visitation Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN. Memorial service Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Church – Munster (8411 Columbia Ave. Munster, IN) with Rev. Rich Bawinkle officiating.
