Dario G. Pescara, age 80 of Dyer, IN formerly of Lansing, IL. Born in Popoli, Italy. Passed away Saturday March 18, 2017. Beloved husband of nearly 55 years to Idelma Pescara, nee Rossi. Loving father of Domenico "Don" (Karen) Pescara and Paola (Steve) Cieslak. Cherished and devoted grandfather of Jessica, Alexandra, Anthony, Jonathan, Annalysa, and Nicholas. Dear brother of the late Antonio (Adriana) Pescara, Teresa (late Dario) Contini, Inelia (late Carmine) Villa, Carmella (late Elvio) Iannarelli, and Anna (Francesco) Donofrio and brother-in-law of Walter (Maria) Rossi. Kind uncle to many nieces and nephews. Loyal friend to all. Dario was a retired mechanic and welder of LTV (Republic) Steel and was a past Officer for Local 1010 where he worked tirelessly for union workers rights. After retirement, he took on a new hobby as the Ace Hardware man in Munster where he enjoyed helping customers and quickly developed a following. He was an avid gardener, winemaker and overall renaissance man. He was adored by many and will be greatly missed. Prayer service, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home leaving for a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. at St John the Evangelist Church (10701 Olcott Ave., St. John, IN).
