Darryl James DeVries, age 40, of Dyer, IN passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Christ Advocate Hospital in Oak Lawn surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Christine DeVries, nee Bellinger, sons Austin Dodson and James DeVries, his parents James and Cyndee DeVries and his sister Jill (Jim) Vela, nephew Nathan DeVries and nieces Natalie and Samantha Togtman. Darryl is also survived by step children Victoria, Alyssa, Hannah, and Xander Del Risco and step grandchildren Alexi and Avah.
Darryl and his friend Chad started selling produce on “Shoe Corner” at an early age. Darryl then owned Ironman Transportation hauling produce throughout the country. He spent the rest of his life at different garbage businesses dispatching and working in the office. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 731. At age 27 he received his first of three pacemakers and a defibrillator. Two years ago he received a left ventricle assist device and died waiting for a heart transplant. Darryl was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Darryl was quick to speak and not afraid to let anyone know what he thought. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.

Funeral service Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor J. Calaway officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.
