Darryl R. Kooy, age 61, of South Holland, IL, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Beloved husband of Janet Kooy, nee Haak. Loving father of Abigail Kooy. Dear brother of Donna (Jon) Giusto and David (Barbara) Kooy. Brother-in-law of Doris (Scott) Trester. Kind uncle of Michael Giusto, Heidi Giusto, Alyssa Giusto, Jonathan Kooy, Faith Kooy, and the late Alison Trester. Preceded in death by his parents Donald and Gladys Kooy.

Visitation Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN. Funeral service Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. directly at First Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 16248 South Park Ave, South Holland, IL with Rev. Daniel Svendsen officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery—Lansing, IL, with Rev. Carl Haak officiating.
