David Howard Besser

David Howard Besser, age 58, of Thornton, IL, after a courageous battle with cancer, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 16, 2019. He was at home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Deanne (Witvoet) Besser for 37 years. Loving father of Chandra (Ray) Besser Ondrejka, Amber (Joey) Fransen, and Briana Besser. The world's best grandfather to Jeffery and William Fransen. Dear brother of Doug (Dawn) Besser, Diane (Jeff) Shipley, Dorene (Mark) Perkins. Son of Jerry and Judy Besser. Son-in-law of Harry Witvoet and the late Shirley (Ritsema) Witvoet. Brother-in-law of Dean (Laura) Witvoet, Shary (Jim) Leonard, Layna (Andrew) Witvoet-Van Ermen. Loved by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and a celebration of Dave's life will be held at First Reformed Church of South Holland (15924 South Park Ave., South Holland, IL) on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 12:00PM. Memorial visitation will take place before the service in the church sanctuary from 10:00AM-12:00PM. Luncheon to follow memorial service in church fellowship hall - all are welcome to join.

Dave was a skilled auto mechanic who worked for Bauer Buick, Saturn, Silver Auto Sales over the years, and most recently Phillip’s Chevrolet. Dave loved the Chicago Cubs, spending time outside with his family, and taking trips to Sanibel Island. He was extremely musically talented and shared those talents with many by participating in leading worship at First Reformed Church. Dave’s warm-hearted nature and constant smile will be greatly missed.
