David N. Swigart

David Neal Swigart, age 78, of Harvey, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.  Beloved husband of Loretta Swigart, nee Pozdol.  Loving father of Collette (Claude) Lee, Mark Swigart, Kim (Lou) Avila, and Therese Swigart.  Cherished grandfather of Victoria, Veronica, and Louie.  Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Ethel Swigart.  David worked at Butternut Bakery for 32 years and Union Stewart for many years. He was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island and then hired as a transporter. David was an accomplished poet, author, photographer, and inventor.  He liked coffee, donuts, and poker.  David was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Visitation Friday, May 13, 2022 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 649 E. 162 ^nd St, South Holland, IL.  Visitation also on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 15746 Union Ave, Harvey, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family or to the National Alliance on Mental Illness are greatly appreciated.
