Deloris Jean Wolterstorff

Visitation for DeLoris Jean Wolterstorff (nee Van Drunen), 87, of Momence, IL, will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the Momence Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Locust Street. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Rick Kiekintveld officiating. Private burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park, Garden of Devotion, Monee, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Christian Services of Chicago or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. DeLoris passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Miller Health Care Center, Kankakee, IL. DeLoris was born September 28, 1928, in Worthington, MN., the daughter of Luke and Anna Riemersma Van Drunen. She married Nicolas “Nick” Wolterstorff, Jr. of Rushmore, MN on March 17, 1949. They moved to Momence in March 1957 after 8 years of farming in Minnesota and Iowa. Nick preceded her in death on February 28, 2010. DeLoris has five children and their spouses – Nancy and Rick Kiekintveld, Grandville, MI; Gordon (deceased, 1994) and Mary Anne Wolterstorff, Bourbonnais, IL; Darla Wolterstorff, Bourbonnais, IL; Ronda “Roni” and William Peters, Peotone, IL; Angela and Fred Caldwell, Momence, IL and Robert Veld, Manteno, IL. She is survived by ten grandchildren Joel (Stacey) Kiekintveld, Anchorage, AK; Eric (Kristin) Kiekintveld, Grandville, MI; Rachel Mellema, Grandville, MI; Jessica (Cory) Surdam, Ada, MI; Matthew (April) Wolterstorff, Amarillo, TX; Erin Wolterstorff, Bourbonnais, IL; Scott Veld, Kentwood, MI; Rachel Veld, Kentwood, MI; Nicolas “Nick” Veld of Manteno, IL; Jennifer (Jon) Luckman, Fairbury, IL along with 11 great-grandchildren. DeLoris has 2 brothers and 1 sister, along with their spouses. Leland (Dutch) and Jeanette Van Drunen of Mobile, AL; Dennis and Marge Van Drunen of Winona, MN, and Cynthia and Darwin Houtsma (both deceased) of Artesia, CA. Her Wolterstorff siblings include Herb and Dorothy Wolterstorff, Flandreau, SD; Cornie and Audrey Wolterstorff, Ocheyedan, IA; Pete and Tena Wolterstorff, Fridley, MN; Julia and Gary (deceased) Dykstra, Sheldon, IA; Nellie and Bob Frieling (both deceased), New Lenox, IL; Jeanette Wolterstorff (deceased), Worthington, MN; Katherine and Bernie Vander Veen (both deceased), Worthington, MN; William and Janice Wolterstorff, Worthington, MN; Matilda and Gary (deceased) Vander Sloot, Austin, TX; Ruth and Gene DeBeer, Ellsworth, MN; Jim and Marla Wolterstorff, Big Rapids, MN. DeLoris had several jobs throughout her life, retiring in 1989 from Momence School District as a cafeteria aide. Her favorite job, which she felt was her sole purpose in life, was being a Godly wife and mother. For many years, the Wolterstorff home welcomed several foster children. DeLoris and her family were active volunteers at Unity Christian School, Momence. She was a member of the Momence Orthodox Presbyterian Church, formerly known as the Momence Christian Reformed Church.
