Dena M. Ooms, nee DeVries, age 102, of St. John, IN, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 1, 2025. Beloved wife of the late John A. Ooms. Loving mother of Lois Ooms, Robert (Diane) Ooms, William (Pam) Ooms, late infant son John Ooms, and Nancy (John) McDonough. Cherished grandmother of Dawn Ooms Sanchez, Robert Ooms, Jonathan Ooms, as well as great grandmother to Eric Sanchez, Lauren Sanchez Malik, Kinsey Ooms, and Karsten Ooms. Preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude Kuyper, John DeVries, infant Henry DeVries, Andrew DeVries and Harold DeVries, and by her parents Andrew and Tienie DeVries. Dena was a long time member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lansing, IL. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, December 5, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN with services conducted by Rev. Mark Prestriedge. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.
