Gertrude Bolhuis DeYoung Jan. 4, 1924 to Dec. 25, 2010 Gertrude Bolhuis was born January 4, 1924 in Roseland, IL to John and Anna Bolhuis. She graduated from Fenger High School. She moved to South Holland, IL in 1940 where she met Gilbert DeYoung. They were married on Feb. 12, 1942. Soon after the marriage, Gilbert was sent overseas by the U.S. Army. Gertrude enlisted in the U.S. Marines. Gertrude worked in the DeYoung/Jansma Drive-In from 1954 to 1962. She then worked in the bookstores at Thornton Township High School, Thornton Community College, Thornridge High School and Thornwood High School. She was also very active in the First Reformed Church of South Holland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, and three sisters, Grace, Martha and Annette. She is survived by her husband, Gilbert, her two sons, Ronald (Andrea) and Roger (Kally), a brother Egbert "Red" Bolhuis and a sister Theresa Riley. She has two grandsons: Dirk DeYoung (Suzanne) and Daniel DeYoung (Susie), and three grand-daughters: Brett DeYoung Burgee, Megan DeYoung (Matt Johnson) and SaraJane DeYoung Devine (Adam). She has five great- grandchildren: Greer, Brock, Avery and Barrett DeYoung and Benjamin Johnson. Gertrude loved her family and her church. This loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister will be dearly missed by all. Services will be held at the First Reformed Church of South Holland on Monday, January 3rd. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:15 am at the church and the funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Following the service, a luncheon will be served at the church. Graveside services for the family will be held later that afternoon at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing
