Dolores Miniuk, nee Lewandowski, age 97, of Dyer, IN formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 23, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Loving mother of Lorraine(Ted) Hmielewski, Arlene Miniuk, and Donald(Judith) Miniuk. Proud grandmother of Michael(Mary) Hmielewski, Steve Hmielewski, Cindy(Todd) Ruchman, Quinnlyn(Dominick) Van Rys, and James(Kirsten) Prasopoulos. Dearest great-grandmother of Brad Ruchman, Andrew Van Rys, and Hailey and Lauren Prasopoulos. Fond sister of Sylvia Dembowski, the late Stanley Lewandowski, and the late Alice Kish. Also preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Stella, and step-father Alfonso. Visitation Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30&Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN. Prayer service Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 9:30 a.m at the funeral home leaving to St. Michael the Archangel Church (One W. Wilhelm St. Schererville, IN 46375) for 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Ben Ross officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery - Calumet City, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Michael Church. Mrs. Miniuk was a retired seamstress and a former active member of St. Casimir Church. She loved musical theatre, sports, and her home. She loved her family who were her whole life and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
