Domingo F. Davila

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Domingo Davila, who left this world peacefully on June 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on November 16, 1947, in the warm and welcoming community of Hargill, Texas, Domingo was a beloved son of Andres Davila Barron and Rosalia Garcia Davila. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, humor, and resilience. A dedicated landscaper by profession, he found immense joy in the simple act of cutting grass, transforming ordinary lawns into verdant sanctuaries. His work was not merely a source of income, but a labor of love that often extended beyond the boundaries of business. Domingo's heart was as vast as the landscapes he tended; he never hesitated to mow the lawns of elderly neighbors free of charge, offering a helping hand where it was needed most. His infectious laughter and penchant for jokes brought light and warmth to all who knew him. Domingo had a remarkable ability to turn the mundane into the memorable, and his light-hearted spirit was a balm to many. Whether he was grilling his favorite fajitas and hamburgers at family gatherings or immersed in the excitement of watching wrestling, Domingo's presence was a gift to every occasion. A passionate fan of Tejano music, Domingo found joy in the melodies of Carin Leon, with "Primera Cita" holding a special place in his heart. The notes of his favorite songs will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.

Domingo was a devoted family man, survived by his beloved wife, Frances Ball Davila. Together, they built a life rich with love and laughter. His legacy lives on through his children: Connie Vazquez (Alfred Garza), Domingo Davila Jr. Bobby Davila (Griselda Balderas Davila), Samuel Davila, Regina Davila Coy (Dana Coy), Raymond Davila (Tammara Davila), Joanna Davila, Christopher Davila (Melissa Buiter), and Tiffany Davila Renollet (Dyllon Renollet). Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to many. He was also a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Domingo was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Davila, whose memory he held close.

Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery – Calumet City, Illinois at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Smits, Steger Memorial, located at 3045 Chicago Rd, Steger, IL 60475. In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the laughter and love Domingo shared so generously. His spirit will forever be a guiding light, and his memory will be treasured by all who knew him. As his family lovingly expresses, Domingo will remain "Forever in our hearts."
