Donald Zeldenrust age 77, of Crete, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Beloved husband for 53 years of Janis Zeldenrust (nee Ensminger). Devoted father of Tim (Kim) Zeldenrust and Ruth (Henry) Zeldenrust-Campbell. Grandfather of five beautiful granddaughters Alyssa, Cady, Rebecca, Kelley, and Cora. Dear brother of Robert(Joan) Zeldenrust. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents the late John and Tina Zeldenrust and brothers the late Herman(Barb(John) Van Kalker) Zeldenrust and the late John(Anna) Zeldenrust Jr. Visitation Monday, April 28, 2014 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN 46311. Funeral service on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Reformed Church 3134 Ridge Road Lansing, IL 60438 with Rev. Ben Kappers officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to American Cancer Society or Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America appreciated. Don was a Cook County farmer growing corn, vegetables, and flowers. Don served on the Cook County Farm Bureau Board of Directors from 1979- 2013. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and buddies and wintering in Moorehaven, FL.
