Donna Jean Jonkman

Donna Jean Jonkman, formerly Prince, nee Van Hattem, age 80, went home to her Lord and Savior on her ordained day, August 25, 2026. Beloved wife of John Jonkman. Loving mother of Darren (Sandra) Prince and Darla (Jeff) Lane. Stepmother of Rodney Jonkman and the late Sherie Frei. Proud grandmother of Morgan (Luke) Lyzenga, Molly (Kyle) Haan, Madison (Mitchell) Oskam, Ryan (Kendra) Lane, Devin (Abby) Lane, Adam Lane, Kristen Frei, and Dakota Berens. Great-grandmother of Claire, Lettie, Jed and George Lyzenga, Maisy and Hallie Haan, Maria and Maverick Oskam, Finnegan and Wesley Lane, Mallory and Carter Lane. Loving sister of the late Nancy (late Boyd “Pete”) Witvoet and Marilyn (Fred) Neumeyer. Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Hazel Van Hattem.

What Donna will be remembered for most is her love for the Lord, love for her family, her extreme creativity and her great sense of humor. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Visitation Monday, August 31, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN with Rev. John Rogers officiating.
