Douglas Paul Blankenberger

Douglas Paul Blankenberger, age 73, of Flossmoor, Illinois, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025. Beloved husband of Mary Helen Blankenberger nee Bijak. Loving father of Joseph Paul Blankenberger, Anna Catherine (Joe) Sampley, Michael John (Erin) Blankenberger and Emily Rose (Aaron Edwards) Blankenberger. Cherished Opa of Brynne Mason, Lukas Blankenberger, Eleanor Blankenberger, Stella Sampley and Judah Sampley. Dear brother of David Blankenberger. Preceded in death by his loving parents Adeline and Joseph Blankenberger and his beloved brothers Daniel Blankenberger and Darrell Blankenberger.

Douglas was a choir member at St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Kieran Catholic Church. He was also a member of the school board for St. Kieran School. He was our Tax Man, a poinsettia lover, a BBQ and pie extraordinaire, Santa’s helper and had a baritone voice that made us all feel closer to God… to those who knew him, know what we have lost.

Visitation to be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd., Steger, Illinois 60475. Funeral Mass to be held Friday May 2, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Heights Parish, 724 195th St., Chicago Heights, Illinois 60411. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Illinois. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital appreciated.
