Douglas Bruinsma

Douglas A. Bruinsma, age 61, of Lansing, IL, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023. Loving husband of Lynn C. Bruinsma, nee Van Baren. Devoted father of Victoria (fiancé Kurtis Van Kuiken) Bruinsma, and Cassandra Bruinsma.  Dearest son of the late Lewis Bruinsma and  Phyllis (Late Melvin) DeBoer. Dear brother of Don (Jann) Bruinsma, Debbie (Paul) DeYoung, and Duane (Mary) Bruinsma. Dear son-in-law of the late Tunis (late Shirley) Van Baren and brother-in-law of Joseph (Marcia) Van Baren and Arthur (Sharon) Van Baren. Kind uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Douglas was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Visitation Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Glen United Reformed Church, 2244 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL with Rev. Ed Marcusse officiating.  A private family burial will take place prior to the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing, IL.  Memorials may be given to Bethshan Association (https://bethshan.org/).
