Dwight L Uhter Sr

Dwight L. Uhter Sr. was born December 31, 1933 and was called home on August 15, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Darlene Uhter, nee Sparks, his two sons Dwight Jr. (Joy) and David (Keli), sister Jeanne (Bill) Siler, sister-in-law Wanda (late Tom) Mrozek, three grandchildren: Shelley, Noah and Kailey, and several nieces and nephews. In Dwight''s youth, he liked to fish, dance, ride horses, roller skate and lovingly drive Darlene crazy. Dwight served in the Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the University of Chicago and was a member of Dyer Presbyterian Church. As founder of Paws Critter Crossing, he would do odd jobs like hauling scrap and rebuilding transmissions to feed the animals and fulfill his lifelong dream to have a sanctuary doing God''s work. Visitation Friday August 21, 2015 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN with Rev. Paul Anderson officiating. Interment Lowell Memorial Cemetery - Lowell, IN.
