Edward D. DeBoer

Edward D. DeBoer, age 71, of Waukegan, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Beloved husband of Carol DeBoer, nee Fennema. Loving father of David (Vicky) DeBoer, Sara (Kyle) Lively, and Ruth Ann DeBoer. Proud grandfather of Emma (fiancé Ryan Smith) DeBoer, Ethan DeBoer, Amelia, Titus and Cecilia Lively. Dear brother of Ron (Lois) DeBoer, Jim (Deb) DeBoer, Bill (Barb) DeBoer, and his late infant sister Linda DeBoer; brother-in-law of Sharon (Tony) Verhagen, Donna (late Larry) VanderWall, and the late Eugene (Joan) Fennema. Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Anna DeBoer.

Ed was a man of strong faith, who cherished time with his family and served his church. He was often found with a smile on his face and a corny dad joke at hand. He enjoyed music, computer gaming, gardening and was an avid reader. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens – Crown Point, IN.
