Edward W. Dykema, age 58, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Mr. Dykema is survived by his loving wife Bonnie (nee Boer); devoted sons: Jason (Jodie) Dykema and Joseph Dykema; loving grandsons: Nicholas and Adam Dykema; mother-in-law: Helen Boer; brother-in-law: Larry (Sherri) Boer; two sisters: Pam Spretnjak and Shirley Huttingen. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Margaret (nee Scheeringa) Dykema and two brothers: Kenneth and Larry Dykema. Visitation Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lanes (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN. Funeral service Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at First Reformed Church of Lansing, IL with services conducted by Rev. Ken Kuiper and Rev. Jake Dykstra. Interment Skyline Memorial Park - Monee, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Lansing Christian School or Illiana Christian High School. Edward loved his work as a electrical estimator for Boss Electric and had great respect for Jim Boss. Edward was also an avid gardener.
