In loving memory of Edwin “Ed” S. Prist , a Korean Army Veteran and retired architect, age 86, passed peacefully at his home in Steger on January 22, 2019. Beloved husband of Gloria (nee Zona) for over 60 years. Devoted father to Gwen (Craig) Amundsen and Gina (Ken) Harris. Proud “Papa” of Amy Amundsen, Aaron Amundsen, Lauren Harris, and Nicolas Harris. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and dear friend to many. Ed was preceded in death by four sisters: Marie Leech, Ann Zawada, Helen Zarante, Josephine Dluzak,and three brothers: Joseph Prist, Carl Prist, Frank Prist and his parents, Joseph and Regina Biernat-Prist. After serving his country overseas, Ed put himself through Chicago Technical College and received a degree in architectural engineering.He was an associate partner at Schmidt, Garden, and Erikson, a prestigious architectural firm on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. For the last 15 years of his career, he owned and operated Chicago Reproductions, a successful blueprinting company. Additionally, he will always be remembered as the “go-to person" for everything from remodeling and home repairs to building playhouses and tree forts for his grandchildren. Ed always had a helping hand and a loving heart for his family and friends.
