Egbert “Red” Bolhuis, age 91, of South Holland, IL passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Jean Bolhuis. Dear father of William (Jan) Bolhuis and David (Ruben Hernandez) Bolhuis. Loving grandfather of Sarah (David) Schneider, Rebecca (Kevin) Kingma, Brian (Brittney) Bolhuis, and Michael (Liz) Bolhuis; cherished great-grandfather of Quinn, Landon, Aly, Jacob, Rita, Levi, Rory, and Leighton. Preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. Visitation Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL. Funeral Service Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with services conducted by Mr. Chuck Johnson. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery - Elwood, IL. Mr. Bolhuis was a WWII United States Marine Veteran, owner of Bolhuis Woodworking Co., a 60-year member of the South Holland Lions Club and a leader at Bible Fellowship Church for many years.
