Elmer DeYoung, age 89, of South Holland, IL, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Vernel J. DeYoung, nee Kikkert. Loving father of Diane (Chuck) Jansma, Steve (Laura) DeYoung, and the late Jim (Rae) DeYoung. Cherished grandfather of Kelly DeYoung, Steven (Andrea) DeYoung, John DeYoung, Jeremy (Christina) Jansma, Julie (Matt) Hayes, Jason (Laura) Jansma, Justin (Shelly) Jansma, Andrew (Stefanie) DeYoung, Matthew (Britney) DeYoung, and Joshua DeYoung. Great-grandfather of 13. Dear brother of the late Richard (Virginia) DeYoung, the late Robert (late Bertha) DeYoung, the late Goldie (late Vic) Tanis, the late Kenneth (late Winifred) DeYoung and Harriet (late Wayne) DeYoung. Elmer was a United States Marine Corp Veteran. He served for many years with the Village of South Holland Public Works Department, retiring as the Superintendent and he also served with the South Holland Fire Department for 22 years and held the rank of Captain. He was loved by many and will be missed.
