Elsie "Lucy" Larsen

Elsie M. “Lucy” Larsen, nee Anderson, age 78, of Sauk Village, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2018.  Beloved wife of Rush Larsen.  Loving mother of Carl (Fawn) Larsen and the late Barbara Larsen.  Dear sister of Carl “Sonny” Anderson, late Barbara Ward, late Carol “Cookie” Mendoza and the late Harry “Tuffy” Anderson.  Cherished cousin and aunt to many.

Lucy attended Chicago Vocational High School, and together with her daughter Barbara took continuing education courses at Prairie State College.  Lucy was active in her community via the South Shore Block Club, Southeast Chicago Historical Society as well as various church organizations and local school parent groups.  An active “Band Booster” and PTA mom, she gave much of her time to helping her children through music and educational programs.  A notable measure of how much she literally gave of herself is that Lucy was proud to donate more than seven gallons of blood to area blood banks throughout her lifetime.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Smits Steger Memorial Chapel , 3045 Chicago Rd., Steger, Illinois.  Funeral services on Saturday, March 17 at 10:00 A.M. at Steger Memorial Chapel.  Memorials may be made in Lucy’s name to the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago – 225 E.
