Esther E. Harkema, nee VanderGiessen, age 91, of Crete, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 31, 2014. Beloved wife of the late John J. Harkema. Devoted mother of Carol (Andrew) Vlietstra, Marlys (Joseph) Moll, John R. (Wendy) Harkema, and Dan A. Harkema. Proud grandmother of 13; Great-grandmother of 30; Great-great-grandmother of four, and preceded in death by one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild. Dearest sister of Marvin (Barb) VanderGiessen and the late Henry (late Marge) VanderGiessen.
