Everett H Schurman

Everett H. Schurman, age 93, of Peotone, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.  Beloved husband of 70 years to the late Lucille F. Schurman, nee Zeilenga.  Loving father of Robert (late Linda) Schurman, William (Vicki) Schurman, Barbara (Dale) DeYoung, Bonnie (Warren) Siebert, and Brian (Debbie) Schurman.  Cherished grandfather of 14 Grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.  Dear brother of Peter (Shirley) Schurman. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anne Vandyke-Schurman. Everett was loved dearly by many and will be greatly missed.

Everett was a lifetime member of the Momence Christian Reformed Church / Momence Orthodox Presbyterian Church, where he served on the building committee and was instrumental in the construction of the current building. He also served numerous terms as Elder and Deacon. Everett farmed his entire life raising grain and vegetables. Upon retiring, he became involved with Hands of Hope, an organization that built homes for the less fortunate in Mexico. Everett was also actively involved with Will Township, where he served as a trustee and as township supervisor for 20 years.

Visitation Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. directly at Momence Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 4132 IL-1, Momence, IL 60954.  Visitation Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Momence Orthodox Presbyterian Church.  Interment Momence Cemetery – Momence, IL.  Arrangements entrusted to Smits, Steger Memorial Chapel 3045 Chicago Rd.
