Frances E. Filewicz, nee Groszek, age 97, of Schererville, IN passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023.  Beloved wife of the late Erwin Filewicz. Dear mother of Karen (Dennis) Johnson and Cheryl (Lee) Talac. Proud grandmother of Amy Malavolta, Kristina (Craig) Carden, Angela Harper, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Talac, and Christopher (Kristin) Talac; great-grandmother of Kailee (Drew) Bottos, Madison and Kassidy Miller, Arielle, Alessandra, Noah and Ayden Malavolta, Emerson Talac and Casey Talac; great-great-grandmother of Jackson and Winnona.  Cherished sister of Lillian (late Henry) Gawlik, Alice (late Joseph) Kamedula, Eugene (Vel) Groszek, and John (Patricia Lee) Groszek. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Angeline Groszek.

Visitation Friday, September 1, 2023 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Prayer service Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. from the Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane Dyer, IN to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church One W. Wilhelm St., Schererville, IN for 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment - Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden – Schererville, IN.
